Bruno Ecuele Manga opened the scoring for the Bluebirds just past hour mark at the Cardiff City Stadium, and Federico Macheda doubled the advantage just six minutes later.
Alex Mowatt halved the deficit on 77 minutes, but Kenwyne Jones restored the hosts’ two-goal advantage.
It proved to be the final goal of the match, as Russell Slade celebrated his third victory in four matches as the Cardiff manager.
Cardiff deserved to win the contest and were much better than Leeds in the second half. The Welsh outfit are currently 11th in the Championship table with 22 points from 15 matches, four points behind sixth-placed Norwich City.
