The Danish striker scored twice as Atalanta thrashed Everton in the Europa League.
Andreas Cornelius of Atalanta scores his sides fourth goal
Cardiff City fans do not have many fond memories of Danish striker Andreas Cornelius.
Cornelius was snapped up by Cardiff when they were promoted to the Premier League. Cardiff beat off plenty of opposition to snap up Danish striker Andreas Cornelius from FC Copenhagen in the summer of 2013. That level of competition was reflected in his price-tag – a cool £7.5 million reported by Sky Sports.

However, he struggled in the Welsh capital so, remarkably, Cardiff sold him back to Copenhagen for a reported fee of just £3 million – representing a massive loss on the young striker.
It was a failed transfer that played a big part in the eventual departure of Malky Mackay from the Welsh capital.

Since then he found his form in the Danish capital and this summer joined Italian side Atalanta. Last night, he finally scored in England. He bagged two goals against a woeful Everton side at Goodison Park as the Serie A outfit ran out 5-1 winners on Merseyside.
Whether it is a sign of just how bad Everton are at present, the progress Cornelius has made, the mistake Cardiff made in selling him or a combination of all three? Who knows? But the fans certainly enjoyed it…
