Cardiff City have emerged as new second favourites in the race to sign West Bromwich Albion winger James McClean, with bookmaker Sky Bet.

Cardiff were 16/1 for McClean’s signature on Tuesday evening, and dropped to 12/1 shortly after – behind Stoke City (1/2) and Celtic (10/1).

But the newly-promoted Bluebirds are now as short as 4/1, with only Stoke (4/5) ahead of them.

McClean admitted earlier this week that he could leave West Brom in the summer transfer window, as he prepares to enter the final year of his contract.

And the Republic of Ireland winger could favour a return to the Premier League ahead of a move to Stoke – who will join the Baggies in next season’s Championship – for example.

McClean has played 158 times in England’s top flight, scoring or assisting 24 goals.
