HITC Sport understands several clubs, including Scunthorpe and Peterborough United, are eyeing a move for Lincoln’s FA Cup star.

A number of Championship and League One clubs are weighing up a move for Lincoln City midfielder Alex Woodyard, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.

Woodyard has caught the eye this season for Lincoln and was instrumental in their run to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup before losing to Arsenal last weekend.

The 23-year-old has been a virtual ever-present for Lincoln since joining the club from Braintree last summer, making over 41 appearances so far this term and he is a key member of Danny Cowley’s side.

Woodyard was rewarded for his fine form since joining Lincoln with a new one-year deal, but that will not deter the all-action midfielder’s suitors from making a move for the former Charlton youngster this summer.

Championship outfit Cardiff City have been keeping a regular check on Woodyard, while League One duo Scunthorpe United and Peterborough United are also admirers of the player.

Lincoln are hoping to keep hold of Woodyard as they plan for life back in the Football League if they can clinch promotion from the National League, but Woodyard is understood to be keen to play at the highest level possible.

Woodyard’s suitors are ready to test Lincoln’s resolve to keep hold of the midfielder by firming up their interest in the player when the transfer window reopens in the summer.
