Liverpool booked their place in the League Cup semi-final after a dramatic penalty shootout win against Leicester City, with Takumi Minamino the saviour again for the Reds.
The Japanese international has been in brilliant form in the competition this season, with Minamino bagging four goals in three League Cup matches for Liverpool. Yet his 95th-minute strike last night was easily his most important.
The winger, who signed for Liverpool in 2019 for a reported fee of £7m, has become something of a cup specialist for the Reds this campaign. Liverpool now face Arsenal in the semi-final of the League Cup, and Minamino will no doubt have a place in the starting XI.
Indeed, the Japanese attacker has struggled for regular football for Liverpool this season. However, the former RB Salzburg star has remained an important member of Jurgen Klopp’s side as well as a favourite with Reds supporters.
With Liverpool in the last four of the League Cup for the first time in a while, Minamino could be key to the Merseyside giants winning their first domestic trophy since 2012.
Whilst the Premier League and UEFA Champions League remain the priorities for Liverpool, their win against Leicester last night was one of their most entertaining and dramatic of the season,
And on social media, Liverpool fans were in disbelief over Minamino’s late equalising goal against the Foxes, even with the Japanese winger missing his spot-kick in the shootout.

The attacker provided Liverpool supporters with one of the most dramatic moments of the season, and fans were buzzing and speechless with Minamino’s heroics at Anfield.
