The 2023 Carabao Cup final takes place this Sunday as Newcastle United meet Manchester United at Wembley.

Eddie Howe has the chance to win a first trophy for the Magpies since 1955, as Erik ten Hag could lift a piece of silverware at the first time of asking since his arrival at Old Trafford in April.

The Carabao Cup final will be shown on the Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Football channels.

Is there extra-time in the Carabao Cup final?

Some have been left unsure whether there will be extra-time in the Carabao Cup final, as the earlier rounds did not involve an additional 30 minutes, and instead went straight to penalties.

However, that will not be the case at Wembley.

The Carabao Cup final will see extra-time occur as usual if the scores are level after 90 minutes, with a penalty shootout to come afterwards if Newcastle United and Manchester United still cannot be separated.

The one major piece of team news which we’re sure you’re already aware of is the fact Nick Pope cannot play at Wembley, after receiving a red card in the 2-0 defeat to Liverpool.

It means Loris Karius is likely to make his debut for the Magpies ahead of Mark Gillespie, as Martin Dubravka is cup-tied after appearing for Manchester United in the Carabao Cup during his loan spell earlier this season.

Joe Willock, Joelinton and Matt Targett could also miss the Carabao Cup final as they attempt to recover from knocks.

Emil Krafth will definitely miss the trip to Wembley due to a knee injury.

In regards to Manchester United, Christian Eriksen and Donny van de Beek are both out injured for the showpiece event at Wembley.

Ten Hag will be without Anthony Martial, while there could be a more significant absence in the Dutchman’s attack as Marcus Rashford was forced off against Barcelona with an ankle injury.

It remains to be seen if the England international will recover in time to face Newcastle.

Antony and Harry Maguire are also available after the pair missed recent games due to injury issues of their own, with both making the squad in time for the 2-1 win over Barcelona on Wednesday.

Casemiro is available after serving his three-match ban following a red card against Crystal Palace.
