The Tottenham Hotspur youngster is waiting patiently to build on his brief debut last season.

While some of Tottenham Hotspur’s next generation have been given the chance to impress this season, Marcus Edwards has had to make do with under-19 and under-23 football, but that could ultimately see him finish the campaign in glory if things go according to plan.
Edwards is the captain of Tottenham’s UEFA Youth League team and he has already skippered them to victories over Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund.

The 18-year-old’s latest appearance was in a 3-1 victory against the Germans, with Tottenham making it six points from six against the Bundesliga side’s next wave of talent, and in this kind of form Spurs could go all the way in the competition.
They laid down a marker when they took four points off Real Madrid and they should have far too much for APOEL Nicosia in the return fixture, despite a shock 1-0 defeat away from home.

While Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has made it clear that Edwards should continue his development with the second string and the under-19s, the midfielder can prove his worth with a triumphant European campaign of his own.
If he can captain Tottenham all the way to the UEFA Youth League final, and potentially lift the trophy, it would go a long way to proving he is ready to finally step up.
Having already tasted international glory with England’s next generation, now Edwards is on course to do the same with Tottenham and that can only bode well for the future.
