West Ham United are being linked with a move to bring former Tottenham Hotspur winger Steven Bergwijn in January.
Steven Bergwijn could make a shock return to London with West Ham United now thought to be interested.
The Hammers may sell Said Benrahma in January and that could put them in the market for another winger.
West Ham raided Ajax twice over the summer, snatching defensive midfielder Edson Alvarez and winger Mohammed Kudus.
Tim Steidten may not be done just yet though with one more Ajax star now being linked…
West Ham United reportedly keen on Steven Bergwijn
De Telegraaf reported on Friday that West Ham have an interest in signing Ajax winger Steven Bergwijn.
Some West Ham fans may remember Bergwijn from his time at Tottenham Hotspur, having joined Spurs back in January 2020.
Tottenham paid £25million to sign Bergwijn but he only managed eight goals and 10 assists in 83 appearances.
The Dutchman left Tottenham in 2022 but is already attracting interest for a Premier League comeback.
Bergwijn was asked about West Ham’s interest after Ajax beat Vitesse Arnhem 5-0 over the weekend.
Bergwijn, as quoted by Voetbalzone, indicated that he hasn’t heard the West Ham rumours but can’t rule out leaving Ajax, even if he is happy in Amsterdam right now.

“I haven’t heard anything about it myself, I think you should contact my agent,” said Bergwijn.
“In football you should never rule anything out. But my focus is now completely on Ajax and everyone here knows that. I am happy here and my family is also here. That is the most important thing,” he added.
Ajax boss John van ’t Schip was also asked about the West Ham rumours and expects Bergwijn to stay at least until the end of the season.
Bergwijn serves as Ajax captain and Van ’t Schip doesn’t want to lose him, but appreciates that a ‘huge offer’ could change the situation.
“I haven’t heard anything about it. It’s probably the case. But when it really becomes concrete, I will hear about it,” said Van ’t Schip. “I assume that Steven will stay with us, certainly until the end of the season. And if there really is a huge offer, then you know how it works. But I would prefer if he stays,” he added.
West Ham must now consider if they want to launch that huge offer, especially after Bergwijn blew hot and cold in a Tottenham shirt.
