Leeds United kick off their new campaign in just a few hours and there are some big decisions to be made.
Leeds United manager Thomas Christiansen will already know the answer to two of his biggest conundrums this summer, and the club’s supporters will soon find out for themselves.
While Liam Bridcutt skippered the side under former boss Garry Monk the Scotland international has been a peripheral figure during pre-season, and his performances both over the summer and at the end of the previous campaign suggest he is not the best man for the job.

Pontus Jansson is already a captain in all but name, yet with the Swedish international suspended for today’s match against Bolton Wanderers, another man will be wearing the armband…at least for the next two games.
Gaetano Berardi would be a popular choice, while experienced teammates Chris Wood and Rob Green would also be worthy candidates, but the latter has another issue of his own.
Felix Wiedwald would not have left the Bundesliga to simply sit on Leeds’ bench. However as important as Christiansen’s decision on the next skipper could be, he also has to choose his undisputed number one between the posts.
Green is the favoured choice among the fans still unconvinced by Wiedwald’s cut-price signing, although Leeds have switched between the two for much of the summer.
Putting his faith in a German who shipped 13 goals in the final three matches of last season would be a risk for Christiansen, but while Green is the safe option he is approaching the end of his Leeds career.
These are two big problems with two potentially season-defining answers and Leeds fans will know in just a few short hours.
