Simon Jordan has stated that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang ‘hasn’t produced’ for Arsenal on the field for ’15-16 months’, as he told talkSPORT.
The former Crystal Palace owner compared Aubameyang to Premier League legend Eric Cantona and how you could give players like the legendary Frenchman ‘dispensation’ because they ‘produced every week’.
Not only have things been troublesome on the pitch for Aubameyang, but they have become worse off-the-field of play.
If Saturday wasn’t humiliating enough for the player when Mikel Arteta publicity disciplined him before Arsenal’s win against Southampton.
Well, it became worse on Tuesday morning when he was stripped of the Arsenal captaincy, as the club posted on Twitter.
It was a bold move by Artera and a call that has got a lot of people talking.
Former Palace owner Jordan would have made many big decisions during his time in the boardroom, as he was critical of Aubameyang for not doing the business for Arsenal for well over a year now.
“There is always the excuse,” said Jordan. “Well, he’s a good player and there are exceptions.
“Cantona was given dispensation at Manchester United. But he produced every week.
“This kid hasn’t produced for the best part of 15-16 months, so you can’t run the argument what he did two years ago gets him a pass for what happens now.
“He’s not asking for latitude. He is asking for a rope, it’s not to run with, in this instance, it’s to hang himself with because what he is doing is bringing into question Arteta’s authority.
“Both on the pitch with his performances, then off the pitch as captain.”

It would have been interesting if Arteta was this authoritative if Aubameyang was banging in the goals.
But along with his lack of leadership skills, he is also under-performing out on the pitch.
Either way, the writing is on the wall for Aubameyang and he probably has kicked his last ball for the club – if not, he’s close to it.
And for once, there is a sense of leadership and authoritative nature being shown at the Emirates because it has been lacking for many, many years now.
