What a night it was for one Arsenal loanee on Saturday.

Dinos Mavropanos started for Stuttgart as the German side thrashed Borussia Dortmund 5-1 at Signal Iduna Park.

The towering Arsenal defender was sent on loan to the Bundesliga outfit this past summer and this has to be the high point, given how many high-profile players Dortmund possess.

It was quite a contrast to last week, when Mavropanos was taken off at half-time in what was presumably a tactical decision, given he started last night.

Here’s what the 22-year-old posted on Twitter after the game – and how some Gunners fans responded to him:

Mavropanos joined Arsenal almost three years ago during Arsene Wenger’s reign as manager.

He joined as a long-term option in central defence but he’s in a big fight to save his career at the Emirates Stadium.

That’s because Mikel Arteta and Edu are both calling the shots in North London – neither of whom were there at the time of Mavropanos’s arrival.

He’s a Wenger signing, not an Arteta or Edu one, and therefore he might have to fight that bit harder to impress, evident by the fact he was loaned out.
