Quite a lot has happened at Tottenham Hotspur already this season.
Harry Kane has turned into an English version of Nicklas Bendtner – although it’s almost certainly temporary.
Nuno Espirito Santo won his first three Premier League games as Spurs boss but lost most of the other ones, resulting in his sacking a couple weeks ago.
And the North Londoners hired Antonio Conte, a five-time league title winner in Italy and England, to replace him.
All in all, the Lilywhites have thrown up a lot of talking points for good and bad reasons.
For that reason, there hasn’t been a lot of talk around Pape Matar Sarr, who is almost a forgotten figure.
Sarr was the youngest of Tottenham’s pre-season recruits by Fabio Paratici, who loaned him straight back to Metz for the 2021-22 campaign.
But the 19-year-old has been going about his business quietly in Ligue 1 and was called up to the Senegal squad for the latest international break.
Sarr was an unused substitute as Senegal drew 1-1 with Togo in World Cup qualifying last night.
And here’s how some Tottenham fans responded to his pre-match tweet:
Rising star
Sarr was already considered an exciting signing, even though he won’t technically arrive until next summer.
But that makes it even more exciting.
Let’s be honest, Spurs fans would much rather see him nurtured under someone like Conte than Nuno and fortunately, that’s exactly what’s going to happen.
