Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk scored on his debut on Friday night.

Liverpool are into the Fourth Round of the FA Cup after beating local rivals Everton 2-1 at Anfield on Friday night.
The Reds entered the competition in the Third Round, and were in good spirits having beaten Burnley 2-1 in the Premier League on Monday.
James Milner opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the first half after Adam Lallana had been brought down by Mason Holgate, but Everton hit back after the break with an inch-perfect finish from Gylfi Sigurdsson.

However, Liverpool did claim the win in the end, as new signing Virgil van Dijk rose highest to head home Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s corner, beating Jordan Pickford to the ball.
It will have been a pleasing win for manager Jurgen Klopp, and it proved to be a fairytale debut for new signing Van Dijk on his Anfield bow.
The Dutch international finally completed his move to Liverpool on New Year’s Day, bringing an end to Liverpool’s lengthy pursuit of the former Southampton star, with the Reds paying a world-record £75million for the defender.

Van Dijk capped off his debut with the winning goal, but fans were hugely impressed with his all-round display, suggesting he was a commanding presence in the heart of the Liverpool defence.
Others claimed they couldn’t wait for Van Dijk to become Liverpool captain, and believe he was worth every penny of his transfer fee, even joking that he was a half-price signing based on his display against Everton.
