When FC Cincinnati completed the most high-profile signing of their (admittedly short) history, the MLS newcomers didn’t miss the opportunity to rub it in the noses of some of Europe’s bonafide powerhouses.

In a Tinder-themed video that caused a stir on Twitter, Cincinnati confirmed the arrival of Sao Paulo wonderkid Brenner in a £10 million deal that makes him the third-most expensive signing in Major League Soccer history.

After ‘swiping left’ on Ajax, Arsenal, PSG, Real Madrid and Juventus, Brenner may just have found love at one of America’s most fresh-faced franchises.

Just three weeks ago, the 21-year-old had raised hopes on the red half of north London by joining forces with David Luiz’s agent.

According to Calciomercato, Arsenal had joined the likes of Juventus and Ajax in the race for a striker who had taken Brazilian football by storm with a glut of goals since breaking into Sao Paulo’s first team.

In 2020, Brenner scored a hugely impressive 22 goals in 38 games.

If he maintains that record in North America, it won’t be long before the speedy Samba starlet is heading across the Atlantic.

With Alexandre Lacazette’s future uncertain and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang the wrong side of 30, Arsenal will come calling again.

Cincinnati fans will know, deep down, the MLS is only a stepping stone to something bigger. For now, however, let’s let them enjoy the moment.

Here’s what some of their fans had to say about the signing on Twitter:
