Speaking to Off The Ball, Mark Lawrenson has been discussing Troy Parrott after he joined Preston North End on loan.
As a local Preston lad, Lawrenson has a vested interest in how the Lilywhites will get on this season, and he thinks that Parrott could be a decent signing.
Parrott has arrived on loan from Spurs, and while Lawrenson believes the Irishman could be a hit in Lancashire, he doesn’t hold high hopes for his long-term future in north London.
Indeed, according to Lawrenson, the youngster will never make it at Spurs, stating that he can’t see where he’ll fit in that team.
What’s been said?
Lawrenson discussed Parrott after his loan move.
“You can’t compare him to Harry Kane. He’s levels above him, he’ll get chances at Preston to be in the team, they have a young manager there who was a striker himself so he’ll be trying to get the best out of him,” Lawrenson said.
“It’s a good move for him, do you see him going to play for Tottenham on a regular basis? No, I don’t think so and when you look at the players Conte has brought in you can’t see where he’ll to fit in to be honest.”

Too early
Lawrenson is writing Parrott off at the age of just 20, and, to us, that’s way too soon.
He says that you can’t compare Parrott to Kane, but in this circumstance, you have to.
Kane, much like Parrott had a few middling EFL loans during his teens and early 20s, and he wasn’t expected to make much of an impact at Spurs by the time he turned 21.
However, a few first-team opportunities later Kane was Spurs’ main man, and he’s not looked back since.
Of course, that sort of trajectory is rare and it’s unlikely that Parrott will be able to follow that path, but, in our view, it’s unfair to write a player off at the age of 20.
Parrott may yet come good for Tottenham.
