Yannick Bolasie has no future at Everton but Neil Warnock’s Middlesbrough are unlikely to offer the seldom-seen winger a fresh start during the January transfer window, according to the Northern Echo.
The last time Bolasie played a Premier League game for the Toffees, a team led by Sam Allardyce and containing Oumar Niasse, Ramiro Funes Mori and Morgan Schneiderlin was being thumped 3-1 by a Marko Arnautovic-inspired West Ham at the London Stadium.
Three years on, the £28 million forgotten man is still an Everton player – albeit in name only.
The Merseyside giants have tried in vain to get Bolasie’s £70,000-a-week pay packet off their wage bill.
And, with his contract due to expire in July, a player who became Everton’s record signing five years ago will soon depart on a free transfer.
Bolasie saw a move to Middlesbrough collapse at the last second in October and it looks more unlikely than ever the 31-year-old will reunite with his former Crystal Palace boss Neil Warnock at the Riverside.
“We’re still looking at wide players but I’ve not spoken to Yannick for about a month really. There’s nothing in that at all at the moment,” Warnock explains.
“I’ve not spoken to him for about a month, so I can’t see it happening without me speaking to him.”
Promotion-chasing Boro are expected to lose Manchester City loanee Patrick Roberts, while Marcus Browne is also set for a prolonged period on the sidelines with a cruciate ligament injury.
But Bolasie won’t be arriving in their place.
