Jamie Carragher has suggested that it looked like Liverpool’s Georginio Wijnaldum couldn’t run last night, during his commentary live on Sky Sports.
Liverpool have shown signs of fatigue this season, after two years of relentless excellence.
Wijnaldum has played more games than most for the Reds this term, and he looked like he was particularly tired.
The £25 million Dutchman (BBC Sport) failed to track a simple one-two between Ben Chilwell and Hakim Ziyech in the 53rd minute, which resulted in the left-back having a shot for Chelsea.
And Carragher said: “We talk about Liverpool on the high press and how often they win the ball back. I can’t remember once tonight where they have won the ball back in a dangerous position.
“Some Liverpool players look like they can’t run. I was just watching Wijnaldum there, he just let the player go – Chilwell just looks so much sharper and quicker.”
Carragher went on to expand on his point after the match, with the incident clearly concerning him.
“I don’t think it’s a lack of effort, there’s just something missing,” he added.
“I watched Gini Wijnaldum get done on a one-two. They want to do things but can’t quite get there. I don’t know if it’s the same players playing week in week out, on the back of high intensity football.”

Klopp actually spoke of Wijnaldum as being Liverpool’s most consistent player this term prior to the game, but he may be due a rest.
Liverpool do have Naby Keita coming back, which should bolster their options in the centre of the pitch in the coming weeks.
