Nottingham Forest defender Michael Mancienne feels the side have been unlucky this season.

Nottingham Forest defender Michael Mancienne says that he cannot identify where the side are going wrong this season.

The Reds are nine points away from the playoff places after a 3-0 defeat to Birmingham City yesterday and questions are starting to be asked about the squad.

Mancienne has few answers to them, though, and he admits that it is hard to point the exact reason why his side have struggled so much.

“I can’t put my finger on it,” he explained to the club’s official site. “We’ve been a little unlucky in some games, some decisions have gone against us, but I can’t blame everything on that. We’ve got to take it upon ourselves to go out and grab the game now.

“It can definitely be turned around though. There’s so many games left to go. We’ve got to get a run going.”

Forest started the season in blistering form and were the early pace-setters in the division, but a run of just two wins in 17 league matches has seen them slip down the league in alarming fashion.

The pressure is building on Stuart Pearce now and unless things drastically improve it seems that his time at the City Ground could be coming to an end.

The Reds have ample quality in their team and they are playing well below their potential at this present moment in time.

The Midland side’s next game comes against Rochdale in the FA Cup and it may be a welcome distraction for the side, after their disastrous run in the league.
