‘Can’t make this up’: Some Liverpool fans stunned at what Sky’s reporting about today’s game

It seems as though Lee Mason has caught a bit of the Liverpool injury curse.

The Premier League referee, who was supposed to be the fourth official for Liverpool’s clash with Sheffield United today, has been withdrawn because of ‘injury’, as reported by Sky Sports.

In normal circumstances, you would brush it off and not bat an eye lid.

Well, after the farce Lee Mason was involved in yesterday during West Brom’s win against Brighton then it’s no surprise that questions have been raised about this ‘injury’.

The 49-year-old was involved in controversy at the Hawthorns which saw Brighton’s goal disallowed even though he allowed Lewis Dunk to take a quick free-kick on the edge of the area.

Mason blew his whistle, looked up and saw Sam Johnstone out of position, blew for a second time before the ball could hit the back of the net and then disallowed the goal.

Amazingly enough, he then allowed the goal before going over to everyone’s favourite technology – VAR – and then disallowing the goal again.

All in all, Liverpool fans, like many, cannot believe the news coming out about Mason’s ‘injury’ and how it’s convenient that it has occurred after what happened yesterday.
