Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to react after spotting something interesting in the club’s 2020/21 squad photo.
While it is pleasing to see Mesut Ozil and Gabriel Martinelli among the group, some supporters have realised that three players are lined up in the formation that they would be in if they were to take the pitch.
In the photo, Bernd Leno is situated behind William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhães, as if Mikel Arteta had picked the duo to line up alongside each other in central defence.
After noticing this aspect of the squad photo, a number of supporters hopped onto Twitter to reveal they’d like to see the pair lining up alongside each other for real, ahead of the Germany international.
While Gabriel has shone since his £23.14 million move from LOSC Lille, Saliba has struggled since his £27 million move from another Ligue 1 side in AS Saint-Etienne.
The Frenchman has only played for Arsenal’s development sides this season after Arteta left him out of the Gunners’ Europa League squad.
However, in Gabriel’s case, the Brazilian won the club’s Player of the Month award for October, having already won it earlier in the season.
He is really shining at the Emirates.
