Liam Cooper and Luke Ayling have taken to social media to send their best wishes to Sol Bamba, after the defender was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

The former Leeds man – who plays for Championship side Cardiff – is now undergoing chemotherapy.

Cooper – who played alongside the Ivory Coast international at Elland Road – and Ayling took to Instagram and Twitter respectively to comment.

You can see what Ayling – who Leeds paid £750,000 for – said on Twitter below.

It’s such a sad situation for anyone, let alone Bamba who seems like a genuinely lovely person as the full-back’s tweet reinforces.

Elsewhere, Cooper wrote the 35-year-old a message on Instagram after hearing about his awful news, describing him as a ‘warrior’.

You can see the Leeds captain’s tribute below.

In response to Cooper’s post, Stuart Dallas also paid his respects to Bamba.

The Northern Ireland international simply called the Ivorian: ‘1 of the best 💙’

It is such awful news, and hopefully, the footballing community continue to rally around the Bluebirds defender until he’s made a full recovery.

In total, Bamba made 56 appearances for Leeds, scoring five goals.

He may only have been at Elland Road for a short stint.

However, it’s clear he made a real impression on those at the club while he was there.
