Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has swatted aside questions about whether having no fans at Anfield could aid his side tonight, as reported by the Liverpool Echo.

Madrid go into the game holding a 3-1 advantage after the first-leg, but Liverpool have turned around bigger deficits before.

Anfield is famed for its atmosphere on European nights, and Madrid would only have to ask their main rivals how difficult it can be to play at Liverpool’s home ground, with a roaring crowd behind them.

The Reds won 4-0 against Barcelona in the 2019 Champions League, on their route to winning the competition.

If Liverpool are to upset the odds again this time around they will have to do so without the backing of their vociferous crowd, though.

And when asked if being at an empty Anfield would aid his side, Zidane said: “We can’t do anything about it, it is what it is. We didn’t have fans for the first leg. We have to accept it and do it without the crowd.

“We know the sort of game to expect tomorrow. We know it will be difficult. We are very prepared to face up to this game tomorrow.”

If Liverpool are to turn the tie around they simply will have to put in a much better display than they managed in the first-leg.

Liverpool struggling to contain Madrid’s attackers in Spain, but crucially they did manage an away goal.

That means that if Liverpool can bag the first-goal tonight then nerves will surely spread among the Madrid side, and that could give them hope that they could pull off another famous European comeback, even without supporters there to witness it.
