Even some Burnley fans on social media believe Arsenal should have had a penalty after Erik Pieters’ handball at Turf Moor.

The Dutch defender did make contact with the ball with his hand in the box, but for some reason the referee and VAR didn’t award the Gunners a penalty.

Usually, you’d expect Burnley fans to be over the moon with getting away with one, and they’d have every right to be biased about the decision.

However, somewhat refreshingly, Clarets supporters were more than happy to concede that they should have been penalised.

Of course, that won’t change what happened on the pitch, and it’s unlikely to provide any comfort to Arsenal fans who are likely to be seething after the decision.

However, it does show just how strong a case the Gunners had for a penalty at Turf Moor, and while the officials didn’t think it should have been a penalty, Burnley supporters did.
