Alisson has paid tribute to Liverpool team-mate Diogo Jota for his killer instinct in front of goal.
The 23-year-old former Wolves attacker bagged his first hat-trick for the Reds in Tuesday’s Champions League win over Atalanta.
In doing so, the Portuguese star now has seven goals for Liverpool this season, which is more than Roberto Firmino’s tally all year.
And Alisson, a £66 million signing in 2018, has been waxing lyrical over his new team-mate.
He told the club’s official website: “Jota is a great guy and a great player. I’m really happy for him – he got the hat-trick and he deserved it because he worked hard on the pitch and we helped him a lot with movements.
“Not only the guys who scored but we made a good job with movements creating the spaces and the passing was good – and obviously his quality in front of goal, we can’t deny it.”
There’s no doubt that Jota is giving Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp a big headache.
Nobody can deny that Firmino has been a massive player down the years but the truth is that he’s an attacking player and the goals are drying up in a big way.
He scored 27 in all competitions a few seasons back, but one goal in 11 games this season illustrates his waning influence up front.
Liverpool have a massive clash with Manchester City this weekend and it really wouldn’t be a big surprise if Klopp drops Firmino for that one and starts Jota.
Few can argue that the new boy doesn’t deserve it.
