Jose Enrique has stated on his Instagram story that Christian Pulisic ‘can’t compare’ to Sadio Mane amid rumours Liverpool want to sign the Chelsea winger.

With Mane suggesting that he wants to leave Liverpool this summer, it has resulted in several names being mentioned as his possible replacement.

Does Jurgen Klopp bring in an out-and-out striker like Darwin Nunez? An unproven star at the highest level in West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen?

Or does he knock on the door of somebody he is familiar with like Pulisic, who has struggled since Chelsea paid Dortmund £58 million for his talents (BBC Sport)?

Either way, with Pulisic’s name being mentioned, Enrique wants his former club to stay well clear of the 23-year-old, as the Spaniard sent this clear message.

“Great player,” said Enrique. “But this season, he has played 22 games in the Premier League.

“Can’t compare him to Sadio (Mane) that is always available and performs at the highest level.”

KLOPP CAN TRANSFORM PULISIC

There’s no doubt that Pulisic hasn’t produced the performances that many expected him to put forward in England.

The American has only managed 25 goals during his Chelsea career, as injuries, lack of rhythm and form have all played a part in his lack of progression.

But that’s where someone like Klopp comes in and transforms a player of that nature, then turns them into a world-beater.

He has proven it time and time again on Merseyside, and if the German feels Pulisic is the answer, then he must be backed.
