Arsenal fans have reacted on Twitter to James Maddison’s comments where he told Leicester City’s website that ‘we are all really happy here’ ahead of the new Premier League season and he’s ‘really enjoying it’.
Rumours have been rife that Arsenal want to sign the attack-minded midfielder this summer, but at this moment in time, nothing serious has materialised.
Arsenal fans have provided a mixed reaction to Maddison’s comments, as they are pretty keen on him swapping the Midlands for North London.
Not only do Arsenal need to get a player of his ilk through their doors this summer, but they also have to shift what they already have on their doorstep.
It does seem as though Granit Xhaka will be leaving, but whilst that saga continues to rumble on, he is still an Arsenal player and fans are getting frustrated at new faces not being signed up.
Some of the Arsenal faithful aren’t fussed with Maddison’s comments because they feel it’s standard procedure for players to say such things.
This is what he had to say on Wednesday, with weeks remaining before the new season starting:
“You get that hunger back, the motivation to come back,” said Maddison. “And you come back ready and raring to go. It’s been a good break.
“I’m feeling really good personally. Training’s been really good. The lads look in good condition. I’m really enjoying it.
“We’ve got such a good group here, training’s been good, and we’re all really happy here.”
It will be interesting to see how the player and Leicester themselves react if Arsenal do indeed put money on the table for his talents.
Whilst Mikel Arteta has Emile Smith Rowe on his books, it’s not enough to really drive the team forward, as Maddison in that number 10 role would really help elevate this Arsenal side.
