Don Hutchison claims that he is stunned that Liverpool haven’t tried to sign Dayot Upamecano from RB Leipzig.
Bayern Munich announced that they will sign Upamecano at the end of the season over the weekend, after stepping up their chase of the Frenchman.
Liverpool have been desperate for a central defender for much of the season, with Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez both out injured.
However, the Reds opted to look at cheaper options rather than Upamecano in January.
Liverpool brought in Ozan Kabak and Ben Davies in the most recent transfer window, but Hutchison suggests FSG should have provided Klopp with the funds to go after Upamecano instead.
Kabak made a difficult debut for Liverpool at the weekend, as he got into a muddle with Alisson and allowed Leicester to score in their 3-1 defeat.
Upamecano, meanwhile, continues to impress in the Bundesliga – but with his move to Bayern now confirmed, Liverpool will have to continue to watch his progress from afar.
