Liverpool supporters are upset over team news ahead of facing Tottenham Hotspur this evening.
The Anfield side revealed on Twitter before the lineups were released that Thiago Alcantara and Jordan Henderson are sidelined.
Thiago is absent with a suspected bout of the coronavirus, the second time that the Liverpool maestro been struck down with it.
Tottenham are recently only out of a COVID outbreak and time will tell how fresh Antonio Conte’s troops are.
But Thiago has been a revelation for Jurgen Klopp’s outfit this season following a mixed first year on Merseyside.
Here’s how Liverpool supporters reacted to his absence on Twitter:
Double blow
As mentioned by Liverpool in the message, Jordan Henderson, their captain, is also sidelined with illness.
The good news is that Henderson does not appear to be suffering from the same thing as Thiago, having tested negative.
The bad news is that, well, he’s another midfielder and Klopp’s troops will be vulnerable in the middle of the park at Tottenham.
Tyler Morton has been named in Liverpool’s XI for his Premier League debut and it’ll be fascinating to see how he fares in North London.
Still, missing both Thiago and Henderson is a massive downer for Liverpool, who have only lost one Premier League outing all season long.
