Jamie Carragher has told Sky Sports, during their live coverage of Liverpool’s game against Chelsea, that he thinks Sadio Mane may have earned himself a spot in the Reds’ all-time greatest XI.

Mane scored twice for Liverpool yesterday, as they picked up a 2-0 win over Chelsea.

The Senegalese international’s first goal was an excellent header, before his pressing forced Kepa into a mistake, which he converted.

Mane has now scored prolifically over a number of seasons at Liverpool.

And Carragher thinks that he is so good that he may well have overtaken Barnes in the Reds’ best ever team.

“We love John Barnes, we played with John Barnes. And Barnes is always in Liverpool’s best 11, wide left. I think when Mane finishes that is a serious discussion [that he could take his place],” Carragher said.

“I can’t believe I’m saying it, but what that man has done since he came to Liverpool, he is going to be really pushing Barnes in the all-time Liverpool XI for me.”

Mane has now been with Liverpool for over four years, and he just continues to go from strength to strength.

Mane has netted over 20 goals in each of the last three seasons, and his form is showing no signs of dipping this time around either.

Mane now is established as one of the most dangerous attacking players in the whole of the Premier League and Jurgen Klopp’s side will be reliant on him maintaining his high standards if they are to retain their title.

Liverpool’s next Premier League game comes against Arsenal at the weekend, with one side certain to lose their 100% record.
