Chris Sutton has shared on BBC Radio 5 Live Sport that Mesut Ozil ‘bottled’ his question about his Arsenal teammate Pierre-Emerick Aubamemayng and Tottenham striker Harry Kane.

The BBC pundit asked Ozil, during his Q/A on Twitter, ‘Who would you rather have in your fantasy football team Aubameyang or Kane??’ The question went unanswered.

Whilst Aubameyang was ripping it up last season, it has been a completely different story for the speedster this time around and he has looked a shadow of himself.

His rival across North London has perhaps been the best player in the division, so even if Aubameyang was on song, it would be difficult trying to match Kane’s all-round performances.

Sutton thinks Ozil ‘bottled’ the question because he ‘cannot make a case’ for Aubameyang given his poor form this season.

Given that Ozil has made everyone aware that he was going to hold a Q/A on his Twitter page, BBC Radio 5 Live asked their pundits to ask the frozen out playmaker a question of their choosing, and this is what Sutton asked.

“Mine was a fantasy football related,” said Sutton. “Who would he rather have in his team, Aubameyang or Harry Kane? He’s bottled that.

“He’s seen that. He’s thinking ‘I have got to say Aubameyang but I cannot make a case for him’. You cannot, can he?”

Ozil has been more active on social media than he has been on the pitch this season, which perhaps sums up his situation.

With the January transfer window open, there has been speculation about Ozil’s future once again, but nothing seems concrete about the playmaker heading for the exit door.

Aubameyang will no doubt prefer Ozil to be feeding him on the pitch, but he will have to try and build a partnership with rising star Emile Smith Rowe instead.
