Chris Waddle has told BBC Radio 5 Live (05/09/2019 at 4:55 pm) that Harry Kane will ‘eventually’ realise that he has to leave Tottenham to win trophies and admitted that he ‘cannot blame him’ if he does.

Kane has been at Tottenham since he was a young kid and it’s his dream to guide the club to their first major trophy in over 10 years.

They have come close in recent times, with the most heartbreaking defeat being that loss to Liverpool in the Champions League final in 2019.

Waddle thinks the new campaign will be very crucial in Spurs keeping Kane because if they don’t make moves then he thinks he will leave next summer.

“Yes, he defiantly has [the ability to go the next level],” Waddle told BBC Radio 5 Live. “Listen, if you can put the ball into the back of the net on a regular basis, you have got a fair chance.

“If Harry Kane came to Tottenham and said, ‘look, we need to sell, we need the money’ then there would be a lot of clubs, and I mean top clubs, who would sign him.

“He’s been very loyal to Tottenham. But this is the season where I think for Jose Mourinho, it has to explode, it has got to get better and if it’s like what it was last season then I think Harry Kane will say ‘I like it at Tottenham, I have enjoyed my time but I want to win these honours and I want to be winning medals’.

“It will eventually come to him that I have got to go. You cannot blame him. For Tottenham’s sake, they don’t want him to go, obviously.”

Whilst Jose Mourinho gets mixed messages in the media about where his career is at, one thing that cannot be ignored is that he’s a winner.

And that’s exactly what’s needed at Tottenham.

If anyone has the capabilities of pushing Tottenham towards that trophy that it’s Mourinho because, along with his tactical qualities, he has the mind games to push them over the line.

Whilst Spurs fans will fear losing their star man if they don’t win a trophy next season, it will still take some serious dough to try and prize him away from North London.
