Charlie Austin was fuming on talkSPORT after suggestions that Mikel Arteta is Arsenal’s ‘worst ever’ manager.
The QPR striker made it clear to the Arsenal supporters that they don’t have a squad ‘good enough’ for the top-four or even the top-six.
The end of Arsene Wenger’s reign at Arsenal wasn’t exactly rosy, his successor, Unai Emery, started off in a bright fashion but left with the atmosphere as flat, dull and empty as Tottenham’s trophy cabinet.
But when it was suggested that Arteta is Arsenal’s ‘worst ever’, ex-Southampton and WBA striker Austin wasn’t having any of it.
“Can you please Arsenal fans?” pleaded Austin. “I am not being funny? But can you please? Wenger was there for so long. They hammered him like he was a failure. He leaves.
“Then another manager comes in. They didn’t enjoy him either. Now, Arteta has come in and they have him to blame.
“Look at your squad! Is your squad good enough to finish in the top four?
“Simple answer, no! Is your squad good enough for top-six with the way the season has gone? No. But there you go. Your squad isn’t just good enough.”

Arsenal’s squad isn’t even proving to be good enough for the top ten, as Leeds United’s win on Tuesday night dropped the Gunners into the bottom half.
These next few weeks could prove to be really disastrous for those in North London because if they get knocked out of the Europa League then there is only one way they are heading in the league…and that’s further down the table.
But perhaps progressing through in Europe will provide some much-needed confidence to this Arsenal side that simply hasn’t been on it at all this season.
