Celtic are reportedly ready to sell Stuart Armstrong but can West Bromwich Albion really sign him with Brighton the latest Premier League side to join the race?

Ross McCrorie of Rangers vies with Stuart Armstrong of Celtic during the Scottish Premier League match between Celtic and Ranger at Celtic Park on December 30, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Celtic are getting ready to lose Stuart Armstrong this summer but are hoping to start a bidding war to maximise their income, according to the Daily Record.

Brighton and Hove Albion are the latest Premier League team to allegedly join the race alongside Crystal Palace and Southampton, while recently relegated West Bromwich Albion are also keen.

Do the Baggies stand a chance?

Armstrong only has a year left to run on his current contract at Parkhead, which is why the Bhoys are prepared to cash in rather than run the risk of losing the midfielder for free in 12 months time.

The 26-year-old will not be offered an extension to that deal and the Scottish champions will not stand in the way of an exit, with Tom Rogic now the focal point in attacking midfield after signing a new five-year contract himself.

Tomas Rogic of Celtic lifts the Scottish Cup Trophy following the Scottish Cup Final between Motherwell and Celtic at Hampden Park on May 19, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Yet with three sides from the English top flight interested in securing Armstrong’s services, do West Brom really have any chance of landing the Scotland international themselves after their drop into the Championship?

Surely the appeal of playing against the best players in England will be far more tempting for the Hoops star and therefore the West Midlands club may have to start looking elsewhere for midfield support.
