West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper Ben Foster is attracting Watford’s attention, and an eight-figure bid is reportedly on its way.
The Sun hints that Foster would be keen to stick at The Hawthorns, with regular game-time his main priority as he continues to attract attention from a host of top flight sides. Nevertheless, Watford are hoping that a potential eight-figure bid may be enough to lure the goalkeeper away.
It is a report that has divided some of the opinion amongst the West Brom fans because Foster has been an incredible servant for the Baggies since arriving in 2011. He rarely lets the side down and was extremely impressive during a campaign where the supporters had so little to smile about and ultimately concluded with relegation.
Nevertheless, it seems fair to suggest that should Watford make a bid, West Brom would be wise to at least consider potentially letting Foster head to Vicarage Road this summer.
Getting £10 million for a 35-year-old Championship player would normally be very good business indeed, and thus Darren Moore would be forgiven for finding the bid tempting should it come in.
Of course, Foster is not a second tier-standard player and his influence at The Hawthorns would be incredibly difficult to replace if he did leave. And with goalkeepers more than capable of playing into their 40s and Foster arguably enjoying the best years of his career right now, it would pile a lot of pressure on the Baggies hierarchy if they sanctioned a sale.
But with £10 million potentially on the table, they would perhaps be making the smart decision to at least consider any eight-figure bid.
