Should Tottenham Hotspur try and swap Mousa Dembele for Dries Mertens?

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly been offered Napoli hitman Dries Mertens.
Area Napoli reported earlier this week that the Belgium international’s representatives have approached Tottenham about signing their client.
Mertens, who has managed 53 goals for the Serie A side across all competitions during the past two seasons, would be a pretty stellar upgrade on Fernando Llorente and Vincent Janssen.
Spurs must keep an open mind about taking him, but the North Londoners should explore the possibility of signing him for free.
Calciomercato reported back in May that Napoli wanted midfielder Mousa Dembele and a swap deal seems plausible if the Tottenham star is intent on leaving the club.
According to Area Napoli, the Partenopei are reluctant to accept less than £44 million for Mertens, but this is surely posturing on behalf of the Italian club who must know that a 31-year-old isn’t going to fetch that sort of fee.
With Jorginho heavily linked with moves to Chelsea and Manchester City, a midfielder is likely to be a priority for them in the very near future and swapping Mertens for the Spurs powerhouse might suit both parties.
