Bayern Munich targeting Spurs defender Toby Alderweireld as replacement for reportedly PSG-bound Jerome Boateng.

Boateng is said to have agreed personal terms with PSG and Bayern will then make a move for the Tottenham Hotspur defender once the deal is complete.
Can Spurs afford to lose him?
With the Bundesliga and Ligue 1 transfer windows still open, clubs in those divisions remain free to sign players, but the Premier League’s shut a week ago on August 9 and therefore Tottenham cannot replace Alderweireld.
This is problematic, as although Jan Vertonghen and Davinson Sanchez started their opening game against Newcastle United and could yet form a strong partnership at the back, beyond them options are inexperienced.
Juan Foyth is an exciting youngster but last season played just eight first team matches as manager Mauricio Pochettino slowly integrates the 20-year-old.

Yet in comparison to Cameron Carter-Vickers – the only other option at centre-back if Alderweireld leaves – the Argentine is an old head, with Carter-Vickers having spent the last 12 months on loan in the Championship and has only ever played for the North Londoners in cup competitions.
Even Sanchez is relatively inexperienced when compared to his Belgian counterparts, so having not sold Alderweireld before the English window closed, can Spurs really afford to do so now?
