Ryan Hardie must not give up on his Rangers dream.
Ryan Hardie’s performances this season were enough to earn him a contract extension at Rangers.
The bittersweet part of this decision announced last month were two-fold.
Rangers boss Steven Gerrard decided to send Hardie back out on loan, and the length of Hardie’s contract extension was just for a further 12 months.
Hardie clearly still has something to prove, and he must take inspiration from Tottenham striker Harry Kane.
Like Hardie, Kane took a while before being trusted as his club’s first choice striker.
Kane went about it the hard way, sent out on loan to four Football League clubs from Leyton Orient to Millwall, before getting his chance at Tottenham.
Hardie is in his second loan spell at Livingston this season, where he has five goals in nine appearances.
Prior to this he has been at Raith Rovers twice and St Mirren.
This time his exploits are coming in the top flight and he is edging closer to a Rangers breakthrough, with Steven Gerrard taking a look at him during the club’s mid-season training camp to Tenerife.
The signing of Jermain Defoe has blocked Hardie’s path temporarily, and the youngster must keep pushing.
