Everton completed the signing of Theo Walcott from Arsenal yesterday and it will be intriguing to see how the winger fits in at Goodison Park.
Walcott admitted that Wayne Rooney, with whom he has played for England, convinced him to join Everton, as reported by Sky Sports.
The pair are now reunited and their understanding of their respective games could well prove to be hugely beneficial for Everton, who are looking to push on under the guidance of manager Sam Allardyce.
Having been used sparingly this season at Arsenal, Walcott will relish the opportunity to play regularly again in the Premier League and there is a good chance that he could combine effectively with Rooney, who will relish playing the ball into space for the winger to run into.
Walcott managed to score 19 goals for Arsenal across all competitions and when he is fully sharp and focused can be a real asset for his side, despite the flaws in his game.
Everton are currently in ninth place in the Premier League, although they have lost their last three top flight games in succession and Allardyce will be fully aware that they are just seven points above the relegation zone.
The potential partnership between Walcott and Rooney could help to significantly improve matters for Everton, however, and they could both feature in Everton’s home game against West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.
