Leeds United’s summer has been filled with drama from start to finish.
Whilst Kemar Roofe was leaving Leeds United over the weekend, Pablo Hernandez was showcasing against Bristol City why he is arguably the best player in the Championship.
It is fair to say that the summer transfer window for Leeds has been a bit chaotic. From losing Pontus Jansson to recently signing the highly-rated, Eddie Nketiah [LUFC official Twitter account].
But one thing has remained at the club, and that is the loyal and very popular figure Hernandez, who picked up the Man of the Match award as Leeds beat Lee Johnson’s side in that Championship opener on Sunday.
There’s no doubt that Hernandez is now Leeds’ main player, and come the end of the season, he could become Marcelo Bielsa’s saviour because he could guide the club to promotion.
If Hernandez turns it on then Leeds more than likely pick up three points, and if others around him can just simply contribute, then the Spaniard can push the club over that very difficult promotion line.
From an attacking standpoint, the Elland Road faithful will be pleased with what they have at their disposal, but there perhaps could be questions of their defence.
Either way, a player like Hernandez can paper over the cracks and if he produces the form he showcased at Ashton Gate then the fans will be in for a real treat.
Last season, Hernandez scored 12 goals and supplied the same amount of assists for the Yorkshire outfit, if he can get close to those numbers again then the likes of Nketiah and Patrick Bamford will be the main ones who benefit.
