Nuno Espirito Santo has admitted that criticism directed at Tottenham Hotspur after three successive Premier League defeats can only be a distraction, via quotes by football.london.

Spurs have slumped from the top of the table at the end of August to the bottom-half and behind Arsenal. Defeat in the north London derby last Sunday marked their third-straight loss, while also conceding three goals in each game.

Tottenham will look to bounce back and regain some momentum when they host Mura in the Europa Conference League. The Slovenian side visit the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Thursday night looking to move off the bottom of Group G.

Nuno is not worried that fans and critics will judge Tottenham after their downturn in form. But admits that while it is part and parcel of football, it can be a distraction for his players.

“There is no judgement,” Nuno affirmed. “I am not worried about the judgement, I am worried about how we can play better. The criticism and opinion is part of [the game] and we have to deal with it. That can only distract us.

“My focus is how we can improve. Now is not a moment to ask the fans. Now is the time to deliver, so they see a team playing solid and good [football].”

Will Nuno start to turn Tottenham around against Mura?

Nuno will hope to see his players start to deliver solid results when Tottenham host Mura on Thursday. Spurs were comfortably beaten in the first-half of the north London derby as their game plan fell apart.

The Portuguese only has a slim window to turn things around in training before the Europa Conference League tie. Which is far from ideal as Nuno considers a change of formation to unlock Tottenham’s ultimate potential under his tenure.

Spurs are also back in action at home to Aston Villa on Sunday, and will be loath to lose the game and enter the international break closer to the relegation zone than the top spot.
