Newcastle United may reportedly enter the race to sign the Nottingham Forest star.

After spending most of the 2017-18 campaign in a relegation battle, Newcastle United fans may not be hugely impressed by rumours about signing a Championship player.
According to The Chronicle, Newcastle boss Rafael Benitez might be “tempted” to enter the race for Nottingham Forest midfielder Ben Osborn.
It looks like £5 million is the going rate for the versatile star [Nottingham Post] but if Benitez really is interested, he might have an excellent way to reduce the asking price.
Jack Colback impressed on loan with the City Ground club last season and with the midfielder valued at £2 million [The Chronicle], why doesn’t the Newcastle boss simply offer Nottingham Forest Colback and £3m in exchange?

The 28-year-old combative midfielder clearly has no future in the North-East under the Spanish manager, so if Benitez can use him as a ticket to signing Osborn for a reduced fee then it seems like a logical idea.
Of course, it has not been established whether Nottingham Forest want Colback on a permanent basis, but if Aitor Karanka is keen then it could be a great move for all parties.
