Manchester City completed a famous victory over Barcelona on Tuesday night.

The Champions League is the holy grain to most powerhouses of world football, and Manchester City are no different. A main difference, however, is that the club have never even come close to raising the trophy.

A combination of horrible draws and tactical blunders has seen Manchester City struggle in Europe’s elite competition, but the arrival of Pep Guardiola has raised the expectations at the club, with many expecting the Spaniard to take Manchester City to the next level.

Manchester City were drawn against Guardiola’s former club Barcelona in the group stage, and after being spanked 4-0 at the Nou Camp, the Premier League club got their revenge on Tuesday night at the Etihad Stadium, beating Barcelona 3-1 and showing the world that they really could make a big impression on the European stage.

The question still remains, can they win it? HITC Sport’s Michael Ramsay went to the Etihad to find out what the fans think (see video above).

Are Manchester City fans realistic, or will their dreams get the better of them? Well, it is pretty much 50/50. Some fans don’t think the current side has the quality needed to win the Champions League just yet, while others believe it is very much on.

One fan said: “I think next year actually to be honest. I think we need a couple more players. Get them in the summer then next year is the year for us.”

The next big milestone for Manchester City will be winning the Champions League, and many fans feel that their club is now in with a fighting chance.
