Liverpool whizkid had high hopes in Germany which didn’t materialise and Rangers have become a logical next step.
If Steven Gerrard is keen on bringing Liverpool talents to Rangers then Ryan Kent stands out as a top potential recruit.
Kent is just the type of ambitious young player who could really make an impact at Ibrox, and he is a huge fan of the new Rangers manager.
The 21-year-old is coming off the back of a disappointing season with loan spell in Germany and England failing to push him closer to the Liverpool first team.
In pre-season last year Kent dazzled against Bayern Munich, and clinched a move to Freiburg.
He told The Times his intention was to ‘conquer Germany’ and win awards, but he struggled for playing time and his loan ended early.
Kent then signed with Bristol City on loan but he could not hold down a regular place, with just six starts.
The 21-year-old needs a fresh start, and having had a mis-step in both Germany and England, a loan move to Gerrard’s Rangers is a logical next step to try and get back on track.
Kent would likely not hesitate to join Gerrard, having made very clear he is a huge fan of him and he has enjoyed interacting with him at Liverpool.
He told the Bristol Post earlier this year: “I’ve been lucky enough to play alongside him in training.
“He has this presence and aura about him, where every time you walk up to the training ground I would look at him in awe. He had a presence that no other player had.”
On a season long loan Rangers would have little to lose and everything to gain, and Kent should be strongly motivated to bounce back from an underwhelming year.
Kent is an exciting winger who is direct and has the ability to change games. Conquering Germany may have been too tall an order for him, but he may fancy his chances of success in Scotland.
