Everton manager Sam Allardyce could soon face a selection dilemma.

Everton have been given a major boost with the news that Seamus Coleman has returned to training.

The right-back has been out for ten months since breaking his leg while on international duty with the Republic of Ireland but is now closing in on a return to action, as reported by Sky Sports.

Coleman will inevitably be slowly eased back into the fold at Everton and manager Sam Allardyce will certainly be eager to ensure that the 29-year-old doesn’t suffer any setbacks in his recovery.

It isn’t inevitable, however, that Coleman will go straight back into the starting lineup once fully fit, with youngster Jonjoe Kenny having been hugely impressive in his absence.

Kenny has seized his opportunity with some spirited displays and certainly won’t give up his place in the team without a fight, meaning Allardyce could soon have a selection dilemma to contend with.

Much will depend on how sharp Coleman is upon returning from injury and he will be aware that any slip-ups would give the initiative to Kenny in what is likely to be an intriguing battle.

Prior to his injury Coleman had established himself as one of the standout players in his position in the Premier League but having overcome a major battle to return to fitness, he now faces another challenge to edge out Kenny.
