The Leeds United player arrived as a striker and showed what he can do there last time out.
When Kemar Roofe first arrived at Leeds United for £3million (as reported by the BBC), it was as a striker with a big reputation after he plundered 25 goals in 49 matches for Oxford United.
While the attacker also featured on the wing on occasions, he scored the majority of his goals while playing as a centre forward or a secondary striker, and Leeds will have been hoping he could continue that run at Elland Road.
Last season Roofe flattered to deceive, managing only four goals and seven assists in 49 appearances, as he was moved around the pitch in an effort to get him firing again.
The problem for the versatile player was the presence of Chris Wood, who finished last season as Leeds’ top scorer and was never going to be shunted out of the starting line-up as long as he was finding the net.
Wood has now gone and Roofe is already benefiting, heading into Christmas with nine goals and showing against Queens Park Rangers last time out that he has what it takes to excel up front for Thomas Christiansen’s side.
Like any good striker, Roofe needs to be consistent, and it will be interesting to see how he fares in the weeks ahead. But with Caleb Ekuban side-lined once more and Pierre-Michel Lasogga still out, the 24-year-old has the ideal chance to become the player Leeds thought they were signing 18 months earlier.
