Graeme Murty showed he has faith in Rangers outcast Joe Dodoo on Sunday at Ibrox.
Following a disappointing loan spell with English side Charlton Athletic, you would have been excused for believing Joe Dodoo would have sat out the rest of the season on the Ibrox sidelines.
The 22-year-old stuttered at the third-tier London side, making just five league appearances throughout the first half of the 2017-18 campaign. It saw the former Leicester City forward return to Glasgow in the January transfer window.
The likes of Daniel Candeias, Josh Windass, Jamie Murphy and others sat ahead of Dodoo in the pecking order under manager Graeme Murty, but the Gers boss could be giving the attacker every chance to prove his worth.
He handed Dodoo a second Rangers appearance since returning to the club on loan, as he came off the bench for 10 minutes against Falkirk during the 4-1 Scottish Cup victory over the second-tier side.
It is likely to give the speed machine belief that he can finally forge a career north of the border after all, with Murty’s faith being placed in him over the likes of Niko Kranjcar, Dalcio and Michael O’Halloran on the flanks.
Dodoo is yet to make a league appearance since returning to the Gers but did make the bench for the loss to Hibernian and the win over Partick, so could he build on his cameo role against Falkirk?
It remains to be seen if he will be given a chance by Murty in the league, with his contract set to run until the summer of 2020. He was expected to be thrown on the scrapheap, but Dodoo could have a Rangers future after all.
