Leeds United now have serious competition in wide areas for starting berths.

Leeds United flyer Jack Harrison is beginning to show glimpses of his quality at Elland Road, but should he replace ever-present Ezgjan Alioski in the side when everyone is available?

Harrison, 21, is a winger with brilliant speed and trickery, something that could see him play a major role for Marcelo Bielsa’s side this season.

The Manchester City loanee has impressed in the EFL Cup for the Whites, while he turned in his best performance to date in a Leeds shirt during the draw against Middlesbrough in the last league fixture.

He showed a great attacking intent in wide areas against Boro with some eye-catching dribbles and seized his opportunity when promoted to the starting XI.

Harrison saw the door open due to an injury to regular Pablo Hernandez, who is expected to walk back into the side when available after an excellent start to the season.

But there is an argument to suggest Harrison could dislodge teammate Alioski on the other flank if he keeps impressing.

Alioski has been a mainstay so far this season, with his brilliant work-rate a key feature to his game and the fact he’s chipped in with two goals and two assists.

The 26-year-old was outperformed by Harrison against Boro though and the pair could be left battling for just one position when Leeds travel to Millwall after the international break.

Alioski rightfully may just hold the advantage after a decent start to the season, but can’t afford to let his standards slip with Harrison waiting in reserve.
