The 20-year-old sees the 18-cap England international as a mentor.

Tottenham Hotspur take on Fulham at the weekend and one man in the Spurs team hoping to feature will be Harry Winks. The young talent, who has recently signed a new deal at White Hart Lane, will want to feature in the game as he will want to face-off against his midfield mentor.

Scott Parker is currently at Fulham and the 36-year-old is a player that Winks still looks up to, even today.

He was quoted by ESPN this week as stating:

“He was coming to the end of his career at Spurs and he was looking more to the coaching side.

“Obviously he has a lot of advice to pass on. He is an all-round midfielder. He has captained England. He’s a top player.

“He always gives 100 percent and that is what I’d like to emulate as well.”

Parker spent two seasons at Tottenham following West Ham United’s relegation to the Championship.

So can Winks emulate the combative midfielder?

Like Parker, the 21-year-old does the simple things well. He is an astute reader of the game and plays an accurate pass with ease.

He is also a box-to-box player, happy to do the dirty work going backward and capable of something special going forward.

At the moment he may lack the tackling ability of Parker but the Tottenham youngster has the passion, there is no doubt there.

If he can continue along his current trajectory there is no reason why Winks cannot follow in the footsteps of his Tottenham Hotspur mentor, much to Spurs’ benefit.
