The Everton winger was used as a forward upon his return to action.
Yannick Bolasie is delighted to be back playing for Everton after a year out with cruciate knee ligament damage and it will be intriguing to see what impact he can make for Sam Allardyce’s side.
Bolasie played 61 minutes as Everton drew 0-0 with West Bromwich Albion on Boxing Day, and, interestingly, the DR Congo international was deployed up front alongside Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
It remains to be seen whether Bolasie will continue to lead the line in the long-term or whether he will eventually revert to playing in his usual position out wide.
However, if he does continue to play up front then Bolasie will be looking to emulate the success of his former Crystal Palace team-mate Wilfried Zaha.
Having previously been primarily deployed as a winger, Zaha has thrived as a striker this campaign, scoring four goals and providing one assist in 13 Premier League appearances.
Bolasie possesses similar qualities to Zaha, with both players quick, skillful, direct and capable of causing havoc for opposing defences.
Although he has never been the most prolific of players – his highest return in the Premier League is five goals in the 2015/16 season – Bolasie could thrive playing up front and will certainly look to Zaha for guidance in that regard.
