Former Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien may have a chance to show why AC Milan took a chance on him with Nigel de Jong suspended.
Michael Essien joined AC Milan in January but he is yet to really make his mark at San Siro, so he needs to make the most of what seems to be a good opportunity to impress.
The Ghanian international ended a nine-year spell at Stamford Bridge when he moved to Milan but the man who brought him in, Clarence Seedorf, was axed at the end of the season.
Essien doesn’t seem to fit into new boss Pippo Inzaghi’s first team and he has been linked with a transfer, but a golden chance is coming up.
If Essien proves himself he may become more important to Milan in future if the club is unable to prevent De Jong leaving.
De Jong is reportedly a target for Manchester United and talks over a renewed contract are proceeding slowly, but Suso may be drafted in from Liverpool to add to the Rossoneri’s midfield options.
There are also rumours that Milan may look at Real Madrid’s Sami Khedira but they are unlikely to have the necessary financial resources, especially if there’s competition from Arsenal.
